Lane Cove Cats new home of football

We christened the magnificent new synthetic oval at Blackman Park (Lane Cove) with an official game of AFL9s.

The new facility will enable community sporting clubs such as Lane Cove Cats to play all year round; come rain, hail or shine. The double field also gives us the ability not only to play two junior games at a time, but also hold senior matches on a official sized playing field.

It will also enable Lane Cove to attract people from outside the area and become a beacon for community sport on the Lower North Shore.

We were lucky enough to have Kevin Sheedy and Jude Bolton to open proceedings, which kept the young and old at heart happy. Their support   for the game of AFL here in rugby’s heartland has helped our club and the game grow in NSW.

We would love to thank the Lane Cove Council for having the foresight and determination to see this project through.

Thank you Lane Cove Council’s Deputy Mayor Councillor Deborah Hutchens as well as Craig Wrightson (General Manager), Wayne Rylands (Executive Manager – Open Space and Urban Services), Annette Marsh (Facilities Officer) for their time and effort.

So next year, be part of something special and come join the Lane Cove Cats at Blackman Park!
