Auskickers strut their stuff against Willoughby

Last weekend we had our Auskick Under 8 (Ablett) team play a friendly against the Willoughby Wildcats. And from all accounts they put on a stellar performance.

The team was Captained by Xavier Hynes and along with other U9 players in Will Zahra and Billy Negri, really led the team of the less experienced Auskickers. It took a good 2 quarters of football, before our boys started settling into game play and worked out how to play the bigger full Blackman 1 ground – dominating possession. Our players consisted of Mitchell Healy, Toby Lang, Fred Notley, James Martin-Jury, Hayden Cheshire, Jack Meek, Ilan Malesev, Bayley Charabati, Jensen McGee, Liam Robinson and Bryce Keevers can all be extremely proud of their efforts.

They played to the team rules and did everything of them that they were asked by the coach and will learn from the experience.

We are hoping to get more game play in a gala day at the end of the season, but if the AFL doesn’t get this up and running, we will organise another friendly with Willoughby to ensure more of our older Auskick players  get some game play before the go into U9’s next season.

Thanks all for helping on the day, Adam Lang, Michael Cheshire, Brian Gillard, Michael Negri, Paul Schofield, Daniel Hynes, Denis Fitzgerald and the parents whom encouraged and barracked on the sidelines making it a very special day.

See you Sunday morning for some more of our Auskick – this week will concentrate again on the Handball.
