Hot start to pre-season training

24 February 2016

Just a reminder that pre-season training starts this week (Thursday 25 Feb). It also is our “Come and Try AFL” session, where we encourage you to bring along a friend who may be considering trying another sport.

The weather forecast also suggests it will be a HOT start to the season. Current predictions of near 40 degrees will no doubt test our little champions.

Therefore, we would encourage all players to bring a hat and plenty of water. If the weather gets too extreme, we may be forced to run a reduced session.

In any case, we look forward to seeing everyone at Burns Bay Reserve this Thursday.

Details of pre-season training

Training for all junior competition teams will kick off on Thursday 25 February @ 5pm. However, it would be great if you could get down there early and warm up. Coaches will be there from around 4:30pm.

For the first few weeks, the training will be held at Burns Bay Reserve (Riverview).

From April, we will be conducting training at our home base, Blackman Park on ovals 3 and 4.

We will be using teamer as our primary game and training notification system again this year. When you receive an email to join, please make sure you have your mobile number added to your profile. We use this to notify you of any changes to the schedule or washouts.

As per previous years we have a core group of rules which we expect both the kids and parents to abide by:

  • We are here to have fun.
  • Training is a must. If you are unable to attend then drop us a email. We understand that from time to time kids will not be able to make it due to school commitments.
  • Encourage each other. Putting down a team mate or a son/daughter is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
  • No arguing with the umpire. Players on the field and parents off the field.
  • Listen to the coaches at training. If the children are disruptive and not listening they are given a warning. If its repeated once, they sit out the drill. If its repeated twice, they sit out the balance of training and need to explain to you guys as to why.

Most of these are included in the Lane Cove Cats code of conduct. Click here to download a copy.
