Under 12s end season as minor premiers

A strong end to the season, coupled with a couple of surprised results elsewhere has seen the U12 Enright team finish the season as minor premiers.

The U12 team has had its ups and downs in 2016. A mid-season slump was book-ended by some strong performances. They have also had to endure some injuries to key players (Finucane Lunnie, Zerna, Douglas). However, like a strong club always does, it rallies when the chips are down. This saw several U11 players doubling up on some weekends so we could start with the minimum number.

This is quite a change for this group of boys. They struggled for a win last year. A late season charge saw them sneak into the final four. Ever the underdogs, they rode they wave all the way to the ground final. However they eventually went down to Forest Lions in the final game. This year they enter the final series as the hunted, rather than the hunter. This requires a different mindset, but one which we’re sure the boys can successfully adjust to.

As a reward for their effort, they play in this weekend’s Semi-Final against Mosman Swans. A win gives us a week off and a ticket straight into the grand final (4 Sep). A loss sees us still in the finals but having to take the long way, with a game against the winner of the other semi-final the next weekend (28 Aug).

I’m sure you join us in wishing the U12 Enright team all the best this weekend.
