We were lucky enough to have some GWS AFLW players visit the club during the week. Aimee Schmidt and Kristy De Pellegrini had our new U12 youth girls players hanging on their every word as they described their journey from Auskick to professional AFLW player.

They then showed us some of their skills and we undertook a min skills session.

Aimee Schmidt, who was recruited from Coastal Titans in Perth and was selected in the Draft at pick 17.  She’s a quick forward runner who can kick long on the run and has a good leap. Schmidt has also represented Western Australia.

Kristy De Pellegrini was recruited from the local Sydney league. A classy utility who has a strong marking presence, she played predominantly in defence during the 2017 season. She grew up in country Victoria, before moving to Sydney four years ago. She was a member of the Sydney Football Academy and played for Sydney in an exhibition match against GWS.
