U11 Grand Final Game Report

6 September 2017

It was a great start to our first grand final at Macquarie University – Campbell Field.

We were up against the Westbrook team again, and we were confident going into the game.
The first quarter was a great battle and scores were relatively even, with some great defensive play and some team work leading to our first goal.

The second quarter was our best with some strength in marking and team work, areas we focussed solidly on in our last 2 weeks of training.

At the first half break we were still confident and with a large group of Lane Cove Cats supporters on the sidelines barracking we were hopeful.

Unfortunately despite some gallant tackling and some great individual plays by Cooper, Sam, Daniel and others, the opposition were simply too skilled as a team as evidenced
by the quality of their marking and intercepting
There were moments in the final quarter where some solid team work from our centres, through to some successive marking via Emma and Sam into the forwards lead to our second goal of the match.
Some standout defensive play by Max and Lachie and Cooper continued to help our team recover the ball. We wish Lachie swift recovery from the bump he sustained.
We look forward to as many of the team as possible returning to play in the U12s Lane Cove Cats in 2018, and we can only go from strength to strength
